Ted Krumm has been the Cemetery Program Director for the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs since June 2020. In his capacity as Cemetery Program Director he is responsible for overseeing the five cemeteries and is the direct Supervisor for each of the five Cemetery Directors. He began his career with the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs in May 2014 as the first Director of the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Slidell, opening the Cemetery in June of 2014.
After graduating from The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina in 1979, he was commissioned as an Ensign in the Navy. Over the next 22 years he served on active duty aboard three amphibious ships, the USS Tripoli (LPH-10), USS Schenectady (LST-1185), USS Vancouver (LPD-2) and one cruiser, USS Richmond K. Turner (CG-20). As the Naval Tactical Data Systems and Legal Officer on the Turner he participated in the Grenada rescue and several humanitarian service efforts including Operation Sea Angel in Bangladesh. He was the First Lieutenant on the Schenectady and Operations Officer on the Vancouver. Ted served in Desert Shield and Desert Storm during his Department Head tours.
His shore duty assignments were as Commanding Officer of Naval Reserve Centers in Shreveport, Monroe and Alexandria as a Lieutenant. He served one tour in Washington, DC at Military Sealift Command at the Navy Yard and then as a Commander he was the Commanding Officer of the Naval Reserve Center in Roosevelt Roads, PR. He retired in 2002 as a Commander serving on the Naval Reserve Force headquarters staff in New Orleans, responsible for Naval Reserve Manpower and Operations.
He has been married to the former Lisa Ann Smith for 44 years and has three grown boys, Jason, Justin and Matt. Ted, and Lisa currently reside in Quail Ridge subdivision in Slidell.
