Northwest Louisiana Veterans Home

The Northwest Louisiana Veterans Home is located near Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier Parish on 17 pristine acres in Bossier City. The 156-bed home is also near Overton Brooks VA Medical Center, which eases the process of taking our veterans to medical appointments. Our veterans enjoy sitting outside on the patio overlooking the home’s fruit trees, in addition to fishing and feeding the turtles at the pier. Inside, our veterans enjoy quiet time in the library or playing a round of corn hole in the center core. We welcome visitors and volunteers throughout the year to enrich the lives of our residents.

The home is conveniently located to Bienville, Bossier, Caddo, Claiborne, DeSoto, Grant, Natchitoches, Red River, Sabine and Webster parishes. Veterans do not have to reside in these parishes to live in the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Home.

Apply for Admission

Louisiana veterans who are honorably discharged, wartime or peacetime, and who served 90 days of active duty; spouses of veterans; and Gold Star parents are eligible to live in a veterans home. Individuals interested in living in a veterans home can complete an admissions applicationĀ and submit it to our admissions coordinator, or reach out for assistance.

How to Help

We welcome volunteers who want to give back to the hundreds of veterans who call one of our veterans homes their home. Our veterans love activities, from bingo to crafts and much more! Individuals or groups may sponsor and/or call bingo, donate food and drinks or bring your therapy animal for a visit. In addition, there are many events held at the home throughout the year, and volunteers are welcome for those as well. Contact us to find out how you can help.
