Clifton Williams is a native of Gordo, Alabama. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 2015 after 24 years of service onboard two nuclear submarines, three ships and two expeditionary units. His submarines included the USS FRANCIS SCOTT KEY and the USS NORFOLK. Cliff is an Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom veteran making two trips to the Persian Gulf in less than two years onboard the USS BATAAN. He was the Main Propulsion Assistant and Chief Engineer onboard two Guided Missile Frigates in Japan and Mayport, Florida. Cliff is a proud two-time graduate of Southern University and A & M College, where he was a earned a NROTC scholarship and later came back to teach ROTC. He is currently working on his PhD in Public Policy at Southern where his dissertation topic is veteran related. Clifton recently started working at Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs and serves as the Director of LaVetCorps. He is married with two sons and two grandchildren.
