Connor Junkin

EXECUTIVE COUNSEL

Connor Junkin is the Executive Counsel for the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs. Prior to joining as Executive Counsel in January of 2024, Connor served as Elections Counsel for Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin and Secretary of State Nancy Landry. He has served in Louisiana state government since 2018, where he started with the Department of Public Safety & Corrections as an Attorney I representing the Louisiana State Police. Connor brings a broad spectrum of legal knowledge and skills to the Department of Veterans Affairs. He has represented government clients at the City, Administrative, District, and Appellate court levels, as well as providing guidance through contractual and regulatory compliance problems with confidence and diligence.

Connor received his juris doctorate from Louisiana State University’s Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 2015, where he was a National Finalist in the 2015 Saul Lefkowitz INTA Intellectual Property Moot Court Competition, with the First Place and Best Brief of the Southwest Region. He served as Treasurer of the LSU Law Intellectual Property Society, and was the recipient of the CALI Award for Louisiana Civil Procedure. Prior to law school, Connor studied abroad at the Novosibirsk State University in southern Russia in an immersive language program following his graduation from Louisiana State University in 2011.

As Executive Counsel, Connor serves as the primary liaison for Department legislative affairs as well as handling all contractual, administrative, and regulatory compliance matters.
