Larry Williams is a retired Sergeant First Class who served 20 years in the United States Army. During his enlistment, he worked as an Information Technology Specialist, Signal Support Systems Specialist, Recruiter and Talent Acquisition Director. Larry completed two combat tours in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. During his deployment, he served in roles that included Communications Chief and Gun Truck Commander. Larry’s military awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Army Commendation Medal (5el award), Army Achievement Medal (6el award), and the Overseas Service Ribbon, among others.
Larry Williams joined the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs on August 19, 2019. He was hired as a LaVetCorp Navigator and began working at Louisiana State University assisting veteran, military, dependent and survivor students navigate their way through college. In June of 2020, he was promoted to the position of Veterans Outreach Program Director. Larry is tasked with leading the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs’ Gold Star Family Program, Blue Star Family Support Program, Veteran Homelessness Prevention Program, Women Veterans Outreach Program, Veteran Job Placement/Referrals Program and providing support to the LaVetCorp Navigator Program.
Larry holds a Professional in Human Resources Certificate, a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Criminal Justice, and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration.
