Jackson, La. – On April 29, members of Geaux Seven Chapter of the Blue Star Mothers of America presented 16 Quilts of Valor to veterans living at the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs (LDVA) Louisiana Veterans Home.
A Quilt of Valor is a quality-made quilt awarded to the men and women who have served our country. The mission of the Quilts of Valor Foundation is to cover service members and veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor.
Blue Star Mothers are comprised of mothers, stepmothers, grandmothers, foster mothers and female legal guardians who have children serving in the military, guard or reserves, or children who are veterans. Their membership also includes Associate members and Blue Star Dads who share their love and support of the military.
The Geaux Seven Chapter of the Blue Star Mothers of America members that presented the quilts at LDVA’s Jackson, La., home were: Kathy Johnson Baker, Linda Furr, Pam Davis, and Trudy Dupuy.
According to Baker, the Geaux Seven Chapter has been making these Quilts of Valor presentations for approximately seven years at LDVA’s LVH.
“It’s a real pleasure to live in a country and state that cares for us in these veteran’s homes, and allows wonderful volunteers like you to come wrap us up in love,” said U.S. Army Korean War Veteran and LVH resident Marvin Raglad.
